Kundalini Yoga uses a different model than Hatha Yoga. First of all the movement have to be smooth and rhythmic. Also, the joints are made to move. We are made to walk many miles so we can move joints like the knees alot. Look at martial artists. They do alot of punching. If we were to apply Grilley's statement to that, there would be no great martial artists. We are given kriyas and other exercises that may counteract any adverse stress on certain parts of the body. Twop of the best are shoulderstand and plough. They can alleviate alot of pressures on the body. We need to do the whole kriya to get the "completed action" of the kriya. Also, stress is caused by other factors such as diet and mental stress, which yoga addresses so we need the whole body concept and not just look at one or two exercises. I personally have never been injured doing yoga and find that cat and cow and spinal flexes loosen my spine. If a certain exercise aggravates a certain part of the body, do not do the exercise of do as much as possible. Listen to your body.

This is when I thought to myself if these repetitive postures, like cat-cow, would actually be good for us. From what I've read so far, this isn't the case.

Sat Nam todos,
I'm not sure if I
responded to this line or the thread on the Rainbow Sangat. I know the
issue if being discussed in the Khalsa Council. I don't have the
links, but people may want to check out how other spiritual/religious
groups--the "welcoming and affirming" congregations have addressed the
issue.
The United Church of Christ website may be a good starting
point. Many seem to be forgetting that there is discrimination against
LGBT people on a societal level, in some countries punsihable by
death. This should not be overlooked in the discussion. I think Sikhs
took a big step in challenging the discriminatroy caste system by
having everyone take the same last names. Sorry if I'm repeating
myself here, but 3HO really needs to be "welcoming and affirming"
rather than just tolerating before I or most LGBT people will have much
to do with it.
In the spirit of peace and justice and love for all, Ram Das Singh /John Iversen

-Sat Nam All Dear Ones
Interesting that we feel feel threatened by a group who wants to support each other. Unless you have been part of a minority it is challenging to understand the need for safe haven's with those who
are also targeted by this bias.
In the early days of building this Dharma we were very close and closed because we were weird to all. The world, our blood families, even the Indian Sikh Community. This closeness built this Dharma.
We all need support and lots of it.There are parent groups for parent who have their Children at Miri Piri Academy in India, there are groups of graduates from Miri Piri they have unique experiences and needs. I'm sure there are many more groups these are just a couple who came to mind immediately.
Let us be content within ourselves and compassionate to each other. With this we will build a lasting Dharma and isn't that our real Goal?
Blessings

What I have heard from various people in the Rainbow Sangat is that nobody wants to see that happen. It deserves mentioning that while it may seem from my previous post that I am coming from an integrated place, I owe some of that integration to many, many people in the larger sangat who have extended so much love, acceptance, nurturing and support to me in all aspects of who am of which my sexual orientation is just one small part. The last thing I would ever want to do is to separate from them. My hope is that the existence of the Rainbow Sangat can serve not to separate us but to make us even more cohesive as a community.
>
> In the past 50 years the movement for glbt rights has been a movement of separation, agitation, and antagonization. There was a time and place for this to take place and it was appropriate in order for us to do the work we needed to do which has catapulted us into the place where we are today. When I came out in 1984 I didn't know that other people like me existed. Today the 9 year old child that I helped raise from my last relationship is getting up in front of her school and making speeches in support of Gay Marriage and she tells me that she felt completely supported in doing so. This seems like a miracle that so much could have changed in 25 short years.
>
> The paradigm of separation, agitation and antagonization is an old paradigm that may no longer serve us in this context. My hope is that we can begin to operate from a new paradigm of mutual honor and respect, vibrating the cosmos, recognizing the other in ourselves, understanding with compassion, finding a way through our blocks, starting now to release the pressure (Please note that I am referencing Yogi Bhajan's Sutras for the Aquarian Age here). In our silence we have unanswered questions, we become paranoid and fearful, we begin to project these fears on to one another and begin throwing around painful accusations that can only serve to create misunderstandings that divide and separate us. My hope is that the time has come for this community to begin to break this silence and start searching for answers so that we can be more joined than ever before. I invite people in this forum to continue to ask questions on this subject and continue to post

I felt it right to admit my mistake, and it is good clarification. Fateh wrote me a helpful e-mail, and I have included this guidance and also added a question of my own,
Love and blessings
A struggling but happy soul
Dear Fateh,
Yes you are right, there is a subtle difference. Ironically if I had done this med. yesterday I would not have responded so impulsively! You are right that it does make it easier. While we are at it, what is the best speed. For example with Gan Patee about a second per syllable is stated, with this meditation it is not mentioned, but slower seems a little deeper?
There is nothing to disagree on, I have been practicing it slightly wrong, yet it still worked.
With Love,
Paul/Sukhnivas

Paul,
Sorry, but again, I disagree about the grinding. You can create pressure by pressing without grinding... Side to side is not discussed in the description. Respectfully, you should think about it.
Better yet, try it. Locked molars, just creating pressure with the muscles without actually creating friction on the tooth is totally doable. Much easier to "vibrate" and there's no separation of the teeth.
Anyways... let's agree to disagree and be done with it.
Thanks very much.

Sat Nam,
First, it's been a pleasure serving those of you who have contacted
me about a Gong. Thank you for your patronage. I'm getting inquiries and
purchase orders from not just the US, but from Egypt and the Baltics!
This is the official, last word from "Paiste Central". Expect a 3%
to 8% price increase, which I'm sure is due, in part, to the increasing
price of copper.
I will be glad to serve your needs, and can work with you on pricing.
I'm able to offer 10% - 20% discount off all List pricing.
Blessings all around,
